I am currently working with a local contractor, who have a reputation for expert delivery of commercial and fit-out projects, but have also diversified into bespoke, one-off residential developments. Due to a spike in workload, they are looking for an Architectural Designer, with a specialist knowledge of housing projects, to join their Belfast-based team, on a full-time, permanent basis. This is an opportunity for the right person to join a collaborative and friendly team, within a well-established business, and work on high-end, quality packages.
Your new role
As an Architectural designer, your remit will encompass duties & responsibilities commonly associated with residential projects. You will prepare designs and working drawings, as will as applications for submission to regulatory bodies. You’ll research and specify products in keeping with client briefs. You’ll project manage schemes from concept to handover, attending site meetings, liaising with suppliers, subcontractors and of course the client. Carrying out feasibility studies & risk-assessments, assisting with contract bids & tenders, and working as part of the larger team to ensure deadlines are met and customer satisfaction ensured.
What you’ll need to succeed
You will have a 3rd level qualification within Architecture / Architectural Technology (or equivalent), with 5 years post qualification experience of working on live projects. Experience in the use of ArchiCAD, SketchUp, Photoshop will ensure you quickly ‘hit the ground running’, and you should have working knowledge of NI Building & CDM regulations. You should be a self-starter, with demonstrable high-levels of initiative and commercial awareness, as well as organisational, communication and interpersonal skills. It is essential you hold a valid UK driving licence, as independent travel to site is required on occasion.
